Malibu Media files 29 new lawsuits in Michigan in March

Spring is here and so is Malibu Media, as usual, with 29 new lawsuits filed in the Eastern District of Michigan. The infamous copyright Plaintiff has not backed off of the pleasant peninsula, with the cases representing almost 15% of Malibu’s approximately 207 March cases.

Malibu Media files three new cases in Ohio in March

Everyone’s favorite copyright Plaintiff filed three, but only three, new cases this week in Ohio’s Northern District. While it’s hard to speculate, there likely is a limit to the number of file-sharers in any given location.

The cases continue Malibu’s practice of filing suit after 13-or-so infringements accumulate. This means the suits involve larger dollar figures than suits from many other plaintiffs simply because damages are directly proportional to the infringement count.

Plastic Movie lawsuits begin in Florida and Pennsylvania

UPDATED to include most recent Pennsylvania filings.

ORIGINAL: At least 50 new copyright lawsuits by a new Plaintiff in the bittorrent arena were filed by “Plastic the Movie” in Florida and Pennsylvania on Friday.

The cases each allege a single infringement: a British action flick receiving a whopping 32/100 on metacritic.com (I swear there’s a pattern here).

The 40 cases in Florida and 10 filed in Pennsylvania leave little doubt that this is the beginning of a wave of filing for our new UK-based Plaintiff.

Defendants can expect to receive notices of Plastic the Movie subpoenas to their ISPs within the next few weeks, depending on the judge handling each case.
