13 new Southern New York Malibu Media lawsuits filed in February 2016

Malibu Media, LLC, owner of the X-Art.com adult website, continues to file a record-setting number of lawsuits around the United States, taking advantage of copyright laws which currently favor plaintiffs. In New York’s Southern District, 13 new lawsuits were filed in February of 2016.

Defendants in the newest of these Malibu Media lawsuits can expect to begin receiving notices of the subpoenas from their service providers in the beginning of March, if they haven’t already. These subpoenas seek the subscribers’ names and addresses. Plaintiffs typically use the identities to pursue settlements or further litigation.

Rotten Records lawsuit update in NY, NJ, PA – Rightscorp lawsuits begin

It appears that copyright defender-turned-plaintiff’s-attorney Jordan Rushie has begun filing and is pursuing Rightcorp-originating lawsuits in NY, NJ, PA, and Mass.

The plaintiff is Rotten Records, a music label for metal and hardcore bands.

The lawsuits will very likely follow the pattern of the Malibu Media lawsuits, since that’s where Atty Rushie wet his feet. Subscribers’ names and addresses will be subpoenaed, and likely have been already. Plaintiffs like Rotten Records typically use the identities to pursue settlements or further litigation.

Malibu Media, LLC, owner of the X-Art.com adult website, continues to file a record-setting number of lawsuits around the United States, taking advantage of copyright laws which currently favor plaintiffs. In New York’s Northern District, 23 recent copyright lawsuits were granted leave to serve subpoenas in mid-February.

Defendants in these copyright lawsuits can expect to begin receiving notices of the subpoenas from their service providers in the middle of February, if they haven’t already. These subpoenas seek the subscribers’ names and addresses. Plaintiffs typically use the identities to pursue settlements or further litigation.
