Malibu Media continued its record breaking year by filing 9 new Federal copyright lawsuits in Eastern Virginia – in just one day. All these lawsuits are against “John Doe” defendants.
Although Malibu Media files many lawsuits, each one is serious and represents potentially thousands of dollars of damages if not defended against.
These are considered John Doe cases because Malibu Media doesn’t have the name of the defendant, only an IP address they allege took part in downloading their copyrighted movies. Soon, the account holders associated with the IP address will receive a notice from their Internet Service Provider that their identity has been subpoenaed. Unless the lawsuit is dismissed, the internet service provider will have to disclose the identity of the account holder.
If you have received one of these notices, please see my subpoena defense guide.
If you have received a notice in one of these cases, please don’t hesitate to call me immediately at 888.801.8681. If calling after-hours, please leave a message; I do return calls after-hours.
I have a ton of experience in file-sharing lawsuits and can help you achieve the best outcome possible. I’ve represented over 600 defendants in both settling and litigating Bittorrent lawsuits.
I look forward to speaking with you and helping you put this matter behind you. Please don’t hesitate to call. 888.801.8681.
